Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill arrives at the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kazan Kremlin to officiate the Divine Liturgy

On July 21, on the day of Kazan Icon of the Mother of God’s appearance (1579), Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill arrived at the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kazan Kremlin to officiate the Divine Liturgy.

Near the Cathedral, the Patriarch was met by Russian Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan, hierarchs and clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Before entering the Cathedral to hold a divine service, His Holiness talked with young parishioners who greeted the Patriarch in three languages: Russian, Tatar and English.  

After the liturgy a procession from the Annunciation Cathedral of the Annunciation to the Monastery of the Kazan Mother of God will take place. Here, with the participation of Patriarch Kirill, Babich and Minnikhanov held a solemn ceremony of laying a commemorative stone into a Kazan Icon of the Mother of God Cathedral under reconstruction.
