Rustam Minnikhanov: “In Tatarstan, all conditions have been created for the advent of Finland business”

Businesses from Finland should be more aggressive in coming to Tatarstan. This opinion was stated today by President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov at the meeting with President of Finland Tarja Halonen. The meeting took place in the Kazan Kremlin within the framework of the state visit of Tarja Halonen to Russia.
The President of Tatarstan thanked Her Excellency for her visit to Kazan, having paid attention to the fact that Tatarstan and Finland has much in common. “In your country, for over 100 years lives the Tatar community, which has kept its originality and culture”, the head of Tatarstan told Her Excellency “Your country is a place from which we learnt and is learning how to develop innovations, and now we are adopting your best practices in the sphere of education”.
From the economic point of view, Finland is especially interesting to Tatarstan as a destination to export its products of oil and petrochemical industries. “We should open all opportunities to Tatarstan businesses in your country, and your businesses should make itself at home in our republic”, Rustam Minnikhanov said to the President of Finland.
In turn, the President of Finland noted that she visits Kazan not by accident. “Yesterday in Moscow they asked me why I have not visited Tatarstan earlier”, Mrs. Halonen said to journalists. “Visiting this republic was advised to me by both President Medvedev and Prime Minister Putin. I heard that Tatarstan was a leader in the modernisation and innovative development among Russian regions”.
According to Mrs. Halonen, it is important to develop not only economic, but also cultural and educational ties between Finland and Tatarstan.
In conclusion, Her Excellency invited Rustam Minnikhanov to come to Finland with a return visit.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
