Rustam Minnikhanov holds meeting of Interdepartmental Commission on town planning activities in historical settlements

On August 21, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on town planning activities in historical settlements.

The meeting discussed issues related to construction and reconstruction of facilities in the historic part of Kazan. Minnikhanov was presented some development projects in this part of the city.

Tatarstan President emphasized that new buildings in the historic part of the capital of the republic should fit into the architectural ensemble of the city. First of all, it concerns the number of storeys, he said. 

Minnikhanov also reminded that it had been decided to preserve all the wooden buildings in the center of the city, regardless of their historical value.

“Suggestions of investors to reconstruct wooden buildings are welcome. However, their original exterior should be maintained as much as possible. Almost all the monuments were destroyed in this part of the city. We need to preserve what we have,” he concluded.
