World football championship 2018 to be held in Russia

Russia has become the country to host World football championship 2018. This decision was made by members of FIFA executive committee in Zürich (Switzerland).

Voting results were announced by president of FIFA Joseph Blatter from the stage of exhibition centre “Messe - Zürich”.

Receiving congratulations, Head of Russian delegation in Zürich – first deputy Chairman of RF Government Igor Shuvalov promised that FIFA would never be sorry for made decision.

We remind that RT President Rustam Minnikhanov within Russian delegation also took part in presentation of Russian application for holding World football championship 2018.

The capital of Tatarstan – Kazan is among cities pretending to host World football championship 2018. In August 2010 Kazan was presented to inspection commission of FIFA as the city pretending to hold matches of World football championship-2018/2022.

Other cities to host matches of world championship 2018 are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don and Sochi.

According to decision of FIFA, World football championship-2022 will be held in Qatar.
