Rustam Minnikhanov meets Governor of Sakhalin region Oleg Kozhemyako

On September 24, during his working visit to Sakhalin (September 23-25), Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Governor of Sakhalin region Oleg Kozhemyako.

Tatarstan President thanked Kozhemyako for the invitation to visit Sakhalin and the organization of the visit of the Tatarstan delegation.

"We are grateful for the attention you pay to relations with Tatarstan and for cooperation at the interregional level," Minnikhanov said.

During the meeting, Minnikhanov noted that there are the Tatars among the multinational population of the Sakhalin region. "We are in touch with the public organizations of the Tatars, who work to preserve our culture, participate in local and regional events," Minnikhanov said in particular.

As for further cooperation, Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan has good practices in the ​​development and introduction of information technology. In addition, a lot of work in the field of energy saving, to improve the efficiency of housing and utilities services, to develop the urban environment and public spaces is being carried out. "We are ready to share our experiences," Minnikhanov said.

The meeting also discussed the development of sports infrastructure. According to Minnikhanov, Tatarstan also has great experience in the construction of sports facilities and their further active use.

“We are willing to intensify cooperation in all areas. The Tatarstan delegation includes leadership of Tatneft oil company. It is well known that Sakhalin region has great raw material resources and we believe that our regions have solid prospects for cooperation,” Minnikhanov stated.

An Agreement between Tatarstan and Sakhalin on trade-economic, scientific-technical, social and cultural cooperation in 2016-2018 has been signed today. Minnikhanov noted that it is importan to prepare a plan of actions to implement the Agreement.

Welcoming Tatarstan President Kozhemyako said that cooperation with the republic is carried out at a good level. According to him, interregional trade makes about 750 million roubles, including food stuff, buses, utility equipment. Moreover, Sakhalin purchased two helicopters from Tatarstan last year and plans to buy more helicopters under the programme to develop Kurils up to 2025.
