On September 26, at the Kazan State Power Engineering University, Acting Prime Minister of the republic Aleksei Pesoshin took part in a seminar on the Toyota production system held by Vice-President of Toyota Engineering Corporation Keisuke Ozawa.
Welcoming participants of the seminar, Pesoshin noted that Tatarstan is actively cooperating with the Japanese business, siting the Ammonium plant for the production of methanol, carbamide and ammonia (Mendeleevsk, Tatarstan) as a good example of such cooperation.
Besides, regional enterprises have been cooperating with other Japanese companies for many years, for example the TAIF oil refining complex is cooperating with the Mitsui, the Yokogawa Electric is working on the automation of the largest enterprises of the republic, ICL-KME CS (IT service provider) is collaborating with the Fujitsu company in the sphere of information technology.
He reminded that the sixth meeting of the Russia-Japan Advisory Council on Modernization of the Russian economy held in Kazan on September 19 this year, discussed projects in the field of advanced technology, industry diversification, involvement of production capacities in the development of agriculture, medicine, health, transport and urban environment.
"Tatarstan universities also have links with the leading Japanese educational institutions, including joint research projects, internships of students and teachers. Thus, a Center of Japanese Studies has operated since 2011 at the Kazan Federal University,” Pesoshin continued.
Tatarstan is actively working to attract and introduce a number of advanced techniques and management systems, which are aimed at increasing labour productivity, the speaker said. According to him, the programme to increase labor productivity, one of the priorities of which is the use of lean production techniques at the enterprises, is being implemented. Tatneft oil company, KAMAZ Automaker, Kazan Motor-Building Production Association, Zelenodolsk Shipyard, Kazan Electro-Technical Plant and other enterprises are the leaders in this area, Pesohin added.
Summing up, Pesoshin expressed his confidence that the current visit of Japanese experts and the seminar will give a new impetus to the development of the system of lean production in the republic.
