On October 6, during his working visit to Latvia, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Freeport of Riga, the biggest and important transport hub in the Baltic Sea. The port lies at the banks of the Daugava River covering approximately 15 kilometres in length.
Minnikhanov was told about cargo terminals, their capacity, services and prices. The Freeport of Riga is the biggest port of Baltic countries in terms of cargo turnover, - 41,1 mln tonnes.
According to representatives of the port leadership, the main purpose is to make it the leading port in Baltic countries and an important source of economic wellbeing of Latvia.
Minnikhanov was also told about the multi-purpose cargo terminal RIGA BULK TERMINAL.
The Tatarstan President highly estimated the capacities of Freeport of Riga and a good value for money. It is important to step up cooperation in the sphere of logistics, he summarized.
