On October 6, at the Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia, Tatarstan President met Prime Minister of Latvia Maris Kucinskis, who noted success Tatarstan has achieved in social and economic development.
Minnikhanov thanked leadership of Latvia and the Latvian Embassy in Russia for organizing the visit of Tatarstan delegation to Riga and for the warm reception.
Tatarstan President briefly told about his yesterday's meeting with the President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis amd meeting with Tatar public organizations of Latvia.
Tatars living in Latvia, away from their historical homeland, have managed to preserve their language, customs, culture and all the conditions have been created for this purpose, he said.
According to Minnikhanov, it is especially important to increase the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Latvia. In 2015 it dropped down to 460 million dollars as compared to previous years (about 1 billion US dollars).
Minnikhanov invited the representatives of the Latvian business to visit Tatarstan. "We are ready to assist the Latvian business, to create a comfortable environment for business. There are two special economic zones and corresponding infrastructure in the republic,' he said. "I am sure we have good prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation," Minnikhanov stressed.
Then Rustam Minnikhanov and Maris Kuchinskis discussed cooperation in different areas, including science, education, and information technology.
