Rustam Minnikhanov meets Latvian Minister of Economy and Minister of Transport

On October 6, at his meeting with Latvian Minister of Economy Arvils Aseradens and Minister of Transport Uldis Augulis during his working visit to Latvia, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the current visit would facilitate the development of Tatarstan-Latvian trade-economic and investment cooperation.

Arvils Aseradens said that bilateral relations between Russia and Latvia are developing in accordance with the current situation in the world, however, neighboring countries always seek for opportunities for cooperation.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked for the organization of the visit and a very eventful programme. He also reminded about the visit of Latvian businessmen to Tatarstan by the initiative of the Ambassador of Latvia to Russia Ms Astra Kurme in April.

Minnikhanov suggested considering Tatarstan as the region for entering the Russian market. He informed that Chinese, Turkish, Finnish, and American companies are successfully working in Tatarstan, and all conditions have been created for investors.

The opportunities of using Latvian transport and logistics infrastructure, including Freeport of Riga and Freeport of Ventspils were also discussed at the meeting.

Minister of Transport, Co-chairman of the Latvian-Russian intergovernmental commission for economic, scientific-technical and cultural issues Uldis Augulis and Rustam Minnikhanov discussed opening of direct flights between Kazan and Riga, and including Kazan in the route Riga-Moscow.

Uldis Augulis also suggested using services of Freeport of Riga for the needs of Tatarstan enterprises.
