17 October 2016, Monday

On October 17, issues of fighting against domestic corruption were discussed at a session of the Commission for coordination of anti-corruption work at the Kazan Kremlin.

“We discussed domestic corruption at the coordination council in 2014. Major work has been carried out in this sphere over the last two years. In particular, changes have been introduced in the protocol of liaison between population and state authorities. Positive changes have been made in educational system. A special category about domestic corruption is successfully working in Public control system. However, we have to discuss issues of corruption again,” Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said in his welcoming speech.

“The number of crimes has considerably increased. For the last nine months the level of corruption has made 40 per cent in total. The number of revealed cases of bribery among officials exceeds the indexes of the previous year four times. Heads of rural settlements, employees of educational and medical organizations become persons of interest. Most crimes in the sphere of domestic corruption are committed in health care and welfare protection,” Rustam Minnikhanov continued.

The president summarized that the main task of the current session is to find reasons of corruption and work out additional measures to counteract these corrupt practices.
