On October 18, during his working visit to Minsk, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov laid a wreath to the Victory Monument.
The Monument-obelisk was built to commemorate the Victory in the World War II and in honour of the Soviet soldiers, partisans who died in the war. The monument is one of the symbols of the capital of Belarus, as well as a venue for various events to celebrate the victory in the World War II.
The Victory monument created by architects G. Zaborski and V. Karol was erected in 1954 in the middle of the Victory Square. A solemn opening of the monument was dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the German Fascist invaders.
