Turkey and Tatarstan continue cooperation in automobile construction

Three documents were signed today in Kazan following the 11th session held by the Russia-Turkey Intergovernmental Commission.

Present at the signing ceremony were Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and commission’s co-chairmen, deputy chairman of the Russian government Igor Sechin and Turkish minister of energy and natural recourses Taner Yildiz.

Tatarstan’s trade and economic potential was presented to the Turkish delegation. The commission reviewed issues related to trade and economic relations between the two countries. The parties exchanged views on measures that have to be taken, to expand cooperation in various areas. The main subjects for discussion were regulating trade relations, their legal framework and lifting some existing restrictions.

Igor Sechin and Taner Yildiz signed a final memorandum. A joint statement was signed by the Russia Federal Agency for Tourism and Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism on taking relevant measures, to prepare for the 2011 tourist season. Besides, a frame agreement on trade, economic and investment cooperation was signed by the Tatarstan Industry and Trade Ministry, SEZ Alabuga and Turkey’s Association of Automotive Industry Exporters.

The Tatarstan minister of industry and trade Ravil Zaripov, who signed the document, following the signing ceremony told journalists the meeting in Kazan had continued to discuss agreements with Turkish companies interested in cooperating with Tatarstan's manufacturers in auto components production reached previous October. “The JSC Kamaz was a separate line in the agreement protocol between Russia and Turkey. Implementing joint projects with the SEZ Alabuga was discussed as well. A delegation from Tatarstan, including auto components manufacturers, will late in April visit Turkey, for an in-depth discussion of the made proposals,” he said.
