Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov meets Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

On December 15, at their meeting in Ankara, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan friendly welcomed each other.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for the opportunity to meet and expressed condolences on the terrorist attack that happened in Istanbul on December 10.

“We appreciate high level of relations with Turkey and brotherly Turkish people. It is important that notwithstanding difficult period in relations between Russia and Turkey leaders of both countries managed to normalize the situation,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Minnikhanov expressed his admiration for the success of the Turkish people in implementation of such projects as the opening of the third bridge (The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge), construction of the Eurasia tunnel and construction of the third airport in Istanbul.

It was noted that Turkey is one of the leading partners of Tatarstan in the sphere of trade-economic and investment cooperation today. Ten Turkish plants are successfully working in the republic, and a multi-purpose residential and office complex “Sunrise city” is being built at the expense of Hayat Holding in Naberezhnye Chelny. Other projects in energy, engineering, health care, constriction and agricultural sectors are being developed.

Tatarstan is interested in developing Turkish business in the republic and is willing to render overall support, Minnikhanov said. 

Tatarstan President also thanked Turkish President for his attention to the Tatar community in Turkey.
