Rustam Minnikhanov: “Agricultural producers in Tatarstan can always count on support”

An official meeting, to mark the Tatarstan farming movement’s 20th anniversary, has today been held at the Korston business centre. An attendee was President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
The Association of Farmers and Peasant Farmsteads chief Kamiyar Baitemirov summed up the work and set tasks for the future. He said the farming movement in Tatarstan had rapidly progressed since 1990. The association was established in 1991. “In the 20 years of making and developing, the farming entities have had a market relations schooling. The agro-industrial branch is hard to imagine without farmers, farmsteads and agricultural consumer cooperatives,” K. Baitemirov noted.
Small businesses, the president said, keep one third of the republic’s livestock using 15 percent of the plough land. Every fourth resident in the republic lives in a rural territory. Over 28 thousand farming entities are active, 24 thousand set up within the self-employment programme. The space cultivated by the entities totals 499.7 thousand hectares.
The consumer cooperatives network continues to be formed. A total of 145 cooperatives have so far been set up, 39 of them of the credit, 20 processing, and 86 of the sales and procurement types. Their loan portfolio totals over 250 million roubles.
Tatarstan has adopted a dairy farming development programme. A total of 60 farms are operating at the moment, the number to go up to 1,000 in the next 2-3 years.
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov greeted the meeting on the farming movement 20th anniversary. “The village in the republic has been given strong momentum. The self-employment programme has allowed over 25 thousand villagers receive subsidies and start uph own businesses,” he said.
R. Minnihkanov pledged support for the agricultural producers whatever the market situation.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
