Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov: the Tatarstan delegations has come to Helsinki with firm intentions

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov arrived in the Finnish capital Helsinki for a two-day working visit on March 24.

At Helsinki’s international airport Vantaa the head of Tatarstan was met by Political Under-Secretary of State of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Jaakko Laajava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russian to Finland Aleksander Rumyantsev and others.

Upon arrival to Helsinki, the Tatarstan President met with Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs Mauri Pekkarinen. Russian trade representative in Finland Valery Shlyamin, director of the department of foreign affairs – aide to the Tatarstan President Iskander Muflikhanov, Tatarstan industry and trade minister Ravil Zaripov, Tatarstan economy minister Midkhat Shagiakhmetov and other officials also took part in the meeting.

Greeting the guests, Mr. Pekkarinen reminded that in 2005 he brought representatives of Finnish business community to Tatarstan in order to enlarge economic relations with the republic. The Republic of Tatarstan ghosted the Days of Finland in the Republic of Tatarstan at that time. He expressed hope that this visit would enable the both parties to talk about new joint projects between Finnish and Tatarstan companies.

In his turn, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that the Tatarstan delegation arrived in Helsinki with firm resolutions to develop business cooperation. The visit should give a new impetus to the further development of our relations, he said. The Tatarstan side, the President went on to say, is ready to support the relationship in all fields, including cooperation in the sphere of metallurgy, IT, forestry, energy-saving technologies and alternative energy.

Later on, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and members of his delegation were received by Finnish President Tarja Hallonen.
