Rustam Minnikhanov: Tatarstan law enforcement officers make a significant contribution to steady development of the republic

On January 25, speaking at a summary meeting of Tatarstan Ministry of internal affairs, President of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan law enforcement officers make a significant contribution to steady development of the republic.

Minister of internal affairs of the republic Artem Khokhorin reported that the total number of crimes decreased by 7.5 per cent last year. Moreover, the number of crimes against property went down by 13 per cent. In total, more than 48,000 cases of criminal offenses were registered in Tatarstan in 2016.

Tatarstan police officers solved 89.6 per cent of armed assaults and 80.4 per cent of robberies. Detection rate of murders reached 92 per cent, intended grievous bodily harm – 97.4 per cent.

Khokhorin noted that despite a significant decrease in the level of organized crime, this problem retains its relevance. Last year, officials of Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic solved more than 1,100 crimes, for which 521 members of organized criminal groups were punished.
