Zilya Valeeva: Relations between Tatarstan and Saudi Arabia are based on culture

“Contacts in cultural sphere make the basis for development of relationships between Tatarstan and Saudi Arabia”, - Vice-premier of RT government Zilya Valeeva said at the meeting with delegation of Saudi Arabia which took place in RT Cabinet. Delegation is headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Russian Federation Ali Hasan Jafar and Deputy Minister of culture and information of Saudi Arabia Abdel Aziz ben Saleh ben Salama.

Delegation of Saudi Arabia arrived in Tatarstan in order to take part in opening of Library named after Patron of two Shrines of King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud on the base of Russian Islamic University.

By words of Zilya Valeeva this event is important not only for cultural life of republic. She noted that lately relationships between Tatarstan and Saudi Arabia were rather fruitful.

Deputy Head of RT government reminded that in 2006 relationships between Tatarstan and Saudi Arabia received a powerful impetus. Since then Tatarstan delegations have visited Saudi Arabia, plans of further cooperation were discussed within the limits of Saudi-Russian forum in 2009.

Vice-premier suggested to organize exhibition of Saudi artists. She reminded as well that annually representatives of Saudi Arabia take part in International festival of Muslim cinema and almost at every festival their films are singled out by awards.
Deputy Minister of culture and information of Saudi Arabia Abdel Aziz ben Saleh ben Salama thanked Tatarstan authorities for reception. By his words opening of the library is a serious result of joint work.

Abdel Aziz ben Saleh ben Salama thanked Zilya Valeeva for efforts aimed at strengthening relationships between Tatarstan and Saudi Arabia. He believes that relations will continue developing and to strengthen them Abdel Aziz ben Saleh ben Salama offered considering opportunity of exchanging plenipotentiaries who would represent interests of Tatarstan and Saudi Arabia “on-site”.
