Tatarstan President takes part in opening ceremony of International Defence Exhibition IDEX-2017

On February 19, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with the official Russian delegation led by Russia Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov took part in an opening ceremony of the International Defence Exhibition IDEX-2017, which is being held in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. 

IDEX (International Defence Exhibition) is a biennial arms and defence technology exhibition.  Being the largest arms exhibition in the Middle East, the IDEX brings together customers and manufacturers of weapons, military equipment, security systems.

The Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition NavDEХ 2017 will be traditionally held during the IDEX 2017. In 2015, IDEX hosted 100,000 attendees from 143 countries and over 1200 exhibitors from 56 countries. The number of participants and attendees grows every year.

Before the ceremony, Tatarstan President had met Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, other country's senior officials and guests of the exhibition.

Then, Russia and Tatarstan delegations visited exhibition stands of the United Arab Emirates and other countries. Minnikhanov was particularly interested in armored vehicles of such brands as MAN, IVECO, and other well-known manufacturers, which are the main competitors of the KAMAZ Automaker, producing similar equipment in Tatarstan.

In the afternoon a business meeting between Tatarstan delegation and CEO of Tawazun Company Seif Mohammed Al Hajeri was held. Being one of the major UAE companies and main organizers of the exhibition, Tawazun Company invests in the development and attraction of high technologies. During the meeting Minnikhanov briefly told about economic and industrial potential of the republic, while heads of industrial enterprises - exhibitors from Tatarstan presented their products.
