Prime Minister of Tatarstan opens competitive ballroom dancing competitions in Kazan

On March 11, at the Ak Bars Single Combat Palace, a solemn opening of the All-Russia and International competitive ballroom dancing competitions took place.

On behalf of the republic's leadership Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov welcomed participants and guests of the competitions. He expressed his gratitude to the organizers for choosing Kazan the venue to hold the event. "Kazan is considered to be the sports capital of Russia. Thank you for your trust," he said. Khalikov noted that dancing is one of the most beautiful and hard sports and wished athletes of the competitions good luck.

President of the Russian Dance Sport Union Denis Kuznetsov also greeted participants and judges of the event. He said that the current competitions are special because they are held in the year of the 60th anniversary of Russian dance sport.

"It is an honor for us to hold our competitions in Kazan. I would like to thank the regional leadership and personally the President and the Prime Minister for a warm welcome, " he said.

After the greetings, the hymns of Russia and Tatarstan sounded, marking the official opening of the competitions.
