X international theatre festival “Nauruz” opened in Kazan

X international theatre festival of Turkic peoples “Nauruz” opened in Kazan at the square in front of G.Kamal theatre. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the opening ceremony.

Hundreds of Kazan citizens and guests willing to enjoy art and culture of Turkic peoples gathered at festive square.

Stepanida Borisova, People’s actress of Russia, one of the best Yakut actresses, an outstanding ethnic singer took part in celebrations. Also artists from Azerbaijan, Bashkiria and Tuva performed at the ceremony.

Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that tenth anniversary of the festival “Nauruz” is a significant event for Tatarstan. He wished all participants of the festival good luck and pleasant time spending.

Head of Department for folk art under RF Ministry of culture Galina Furmanova emphasized: “Hospitable land of Tatarstan is hosting the majority of creative groups. Our goal is to preserve atmosphere of mutual understanding and friendship.

The distinguished guest of “Nauruz” - Director of St.Petersburg small drama theatre - Theatre of Europe, People’s artist of Russia, Laureate of State prizes of Russia Lev Dodin addressed people gathered at the square.

The letter of Head of international organization TURKSOI was read at the festival.

Concert of People’s artist of Tatarstan, honored artist of Russia and Bashkortostan Salavat Fatkhetdinov finished the ceremony.
