Viktor Zubkov: Tatarstan experience in organization and holding international events will enable conducting horse races for the prize of Russian President at high level

First Deputy Chairman of RF Government Viktor Zubkov held the third session of organization committee on preparation and holding horse races for the prize of RF President for winning races on the Thoroughbreds. The session took place in Kazan in House of RT Government.
Opening the event Viktor Zubkov informed that on arriving in Kazan he had visited one of republican fields accompanied by RT President Rustam Minnikhanov in order to get acquainted with state of soil and crops. He was impressed by what he had seen and reminded that last year Tatarstan suffered from a strong drought that seriously affected harvest of corn and feed crops. First Vice-premier of RF Government believes the current situation gives hope that this year republic will have good harvest. The main task is to gather the crops without loss and provide population with agricultural products.
As for preparation and holding horse races for the prize of RF President in Kazan on June 24 Viktor Zubkov informed that he had visited International horse-sport complex “Kazan”. By his words it is one of the modern complexes in Russia and is prepared to host international events.
Horse-sport complex in Tatarstan capital is meant for 6 000 spectators, has 12 stables, veterinary clinic, etc.
Horses from Russian regions and CIS bid for participation in horse races for the prize of Russian President for winning races on the Thoroughbreds.
In the course of session Viktor Zubkov was reported on material and technical basis, ensuring of security, participants of horse races and readiness of veterinary control services for receiving horses.
“I’m sure that Tatarstan experience in organization and holding international events will enable conducting horse races for the prize of Russian President at high level”, - Viktor Zubkov said.
Head of Federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary supervision Sergey Dankvert told about results of session of the expert commission on assessing horses for participation in races for the prize of RF President.
The races will be covered by more than 200 journalists from Russia, CIS and international mass media. About 1 thousand volunteers having experience of participation in such big events will be attracted within the frameworks of horse races on June 24.
After the session Rustam Minnikhanov and Viktor Zubkov answered questions of republican mass media.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.
