On May 26, during his working visit to Tatarstan, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev accompanied by Russian Minister of Education and Science Olga Vasilieva, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov visited IT lyceum at Kazan Federal University.
The lyceum opened on the initiative of Rustam Minnikhanov in 2012 and specializes in information technologies, robotics and programming. 288 talented children from Tatarstan and other Russian regions are studying there in 2016-2017.
Dmitry Medvedev was told that candidates of pedagogical, technical and philological sciences, young specialists, and winners of the contest “Teacher of the year” work at the lyceum. There are creative, scientific, and sports groups at the lyceum. Students have access to laboratories of the university to develop their own projects and present the results of their work at federal and regional Olympiads and contests.
Medvedev highly estimated the infrastructure of the institution.
Later on Medvedev went to the Institute of fundamental medicine and biology where he was shown the virtual clinic and center of the development of medical simulators.
Dmitry Medvedev met young scientists of the university afterwards.
