Street named after Suyumbike opened in Astana

On June 12, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Mayor of Astana Aset Isekeshev took part in the official opening of a street named after Suyumbike in Family Village cottage estate in Astana.

"The opening of the street named after Queen Suyumbike in Astana is an important event in the history of our fraternal peoples," Minnikhanov said in his speech. “I want to thank President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Mayor of Astana Asat Isekeshev for this wonderful gift. The image of Queen Suyumbike is especially dear to us. It reflects the soul of the Tatar people. At the same time Suyumbike is respected in the entire Turkic world. We are glad that it is she who is the unifying symbol of Tatarstan and Kazakhstan," he said.

Then, Tatarstan President thanked the initiators of the opening of the street, congratulated residents of the estate and wished them health, family happiness and prosperity.
