Project of children’s educational channel in the Tatar language presented to Rustam Minnikhanov

On July 4, at a meeting at Tatarstan Government House, a project of new TV children’s educational channel in the Tatar language was presented to Rustam Minnikhanov.

Head of the Higher school of journalism and media communications of Kazan Federal University Leonid Tolchinsky told about the project. He said that as a result of globalization national languages are under pressure of official languages of the countries with multi-ethnic population. Therefore, children speak their national languages less.

The Tatar multimedia hub with VOD service will be available around the world 24 hours on all Internet platforms. The target audience of the project is 3-16 age. The new channel will be called UEN-TV.

Participants of the meeting discussed advantages and disadvantages of the project. Rustam Minnikhanov said that the channel will be competing with the existing children’s TV companies and special attention should be paid to development of unique quality Tatar content. Authors of the project will be working on the concept taking into account the discussed remarks and proposals.
