On July 6, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the 7th Moscow Urban Forum (Moscow Urban Forum 2017) held at VDNH, Pavilion 75, on July 6-12.

The event opened with a plenary session “The age of agglomerations. Rethinking the world map”.

Speaking at the forum, Sobyanin said that urbanization is a positive and irreversible trend. Artificial restriction of the development of megapolises will lead to total losses and slowdown in economic growth.

Moscow Urban Forum is a laboratory that works out responses to challenges faced by big cities, Sobyanin continued. The current forum should help to draw conclusions and practical recommendations for the development of cities, and find out what model of agglomeration development is suitable for Moscow.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Kozak focused on two major projects.

According to Kozak, the principles of regional policy that concern generation of the strategy of spatial development of Russia are aimed at defining prospects of each territorial entity. Five trillion roubles have already been allocated for the creation of social and industrial infrastructure in the country.

Another big project focuses on creation of comfortable urban environment. Total inspection of urban environment will be carried out under the project.
