Supervision Council of SEZ “Alabuga” approves 4 new projects

Projects on establishing automobile plant SP Ford-Sollers, production of polysilicon, health aids and logistics park on the territory of special economic zone “Alabuga” have been approved by Supervision Council of SEZ “Alabuga”. The session was held by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
Director general of Sollers company Vadim Shvetsov presented the project on establishing automobile plant SP Ford-Sollers. He informed that a joint enterprise of Ford and Sollers companies is being created on parity basis - partners will have 50 % of authorized capital. Ford contributes its plant in Vsevolozhsk and distribution network in Russia. Sollers contributes plants in Naberezhnye Chelny and SEZ “Alabuga”. The joint enterprise will include all production cycles - development centre, engine production, automobile production including punching of body parts.
Joint enterprise SP Ford-Sollers will start functioning as a new legal party from October 2011. Thus the company should pass through the procedure of approving the resident status at special economic zone.
According to Vadim Shvetsov production of commercial cars Ford Transit and engines will be located at SEZ “Alabuga”. It will be deployed at existing production site where vans Fiat Ducato are now being produced. The engine plant with capacity of 180 thousand engines per year will be constructed from scratch. Investments of the joint enterprise only at SEZ will make 23 bln. roubles. Production of Ford Transit is expected to be started this year while the engine plant will start functioning at full blast in 2016.
Moreover, automobile production implies appearance of supplier park - pool of companies involved into production of different auto components.
The project on establishing plant for polysilicon production at SEZ “Alabuga” was presented by NPO “Mostovik”. The company is known in Russia as designer and builder of complicated engineering objects such as the bridge to Russkiy Island in Vladivostok and several Olympic objects in Sochi. NPO “Mostovik” have plans for construction of a plant producing yearly 3 000 tons of polysilicon. It is a high-tech material used in production of various semiconductor items. Amount of investments make 10 bln. roubles. The project implies creation of 770 jobs. It is meant that the plant will start functioning at full capacity in the second quarter of 2014.
Turkish company Hayat Kimya plans to build a plant for producing hygiene and sanitary paper at SEZ “Alabuga”. One of Hayat holding companies – Kastamonu Entegre is already constructing the plant for producing wood-based panels. New enterprise implies construction of plant with capacity 60 000 tons of paper per year. Amount of investments will make 2 bln. roubles. The production is to be started in 2016.
The project of HAVI Logistics implies creation of distribution logistics centre for suppliers of “Mcdonalds” restaurant network. The project will favor “Mcdonalds” expansion to the East of European part of Russia and will reduce expenses for products transportation.
All four projects were approved by the Supervision Council and recommended for the final approval by Expert council of Ministry of economic development.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.
