Tatarstan wins All-Russia contest among RF regions for best preparation and organization of conscription

By words of Head of Chief Organization - mobilization office – Deputy Head of General Staff of RF Armed forces, Colonel General Vasily Smirnov Tatarstan deserved the win of All-Russia contest among RF regions for best preparation and organization of conscription in 2010. He handed Diploma of RF Government and challenge pennant of RF Minister of defence to the winner.
Vasily Smirnov noted that work on training citizens for military service, organization and holding of conscription and military-patriotic education of the youth is carried out “in a systemic and task-oriented manner in Tatarstan under the guidance of RT Government and the President”, is yearly improved and developed.
Ceremony of handing pennant of RF Minister of defence took place at House of RT Government. It was granted to RT President Rustam Minnikhanov. He was also awarded with Honorary diploma of RF Ministry of defence.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked RF Ministry of defence for appreciating work of republican authorities, municipal formations, RT Military commissariat on strengthening defence potential of the country, pre-conscription work with the youth, development of military-patriotic education, improvement of material and technical facilities at military registration and enlistment office and conscription units.
Winning the contest was the result of integrated work of all republican ministries and departments, Rustam Minnikhanov said. He reminded as well that Tatarstan has become the winner for the fourth time.
Development of sports and promotion of healthy way of life also brings good results while working with young people of pre-conscription age and organizing military-patriotic education.
Rustam Minnikhanov added that Tatarstan is working with 45 military units. It helps communicating with parents of conscripts – they know where their children serve.
Head of Tatarstan believes that an equitable approach is important on considering regions pretending for the first place in All-Russia contest among RF regions for best preparation and organization of conscription.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.
