Session of inter-departmental commission on counteracting extremism in Nizhny Novgorod takes place

Today President of Tatarstan R.N. Minnkhanov has made a working trip to the city of Nizhny Novgorod for taking part in a session of the interdepartmental commission on counteracting extremism in the Russian Federation.

The session was held by minister of the interiors of the Russian Federation Rashid Nurgaliev.

The event was held in Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.

Speaking at the session Rashid Nurgaliev marked that mass media should not create «background which give rise to a serious problem between Islam, Orthodoxy and other confessions».

«In some cases unethical and incorrect judgments by some journalists worsen situation concerning intolerance to other nationalities of our country», - head of RF Ministry of the Interiors stated.
As example he brought out the events on Manej square in last year December which, by his opinion, were covered wrong».

«A word should be calibrated, information should be objective and brought to people without ambiguity that might sharpen the problem», - Rashid Nurgaliev said.

He underlined also that a model of good neighborly relations in the territory of the Volga federal district have been forming years on. The district counts about 25 ths. public organizations, five thousands religious communities. Over 300ths students study and live in the VFD.

«Problem of youth extremism must be under permanent control of state, -Rashid Nurgaliev stated. – Recent times we note the growth of ethnic-confessional problems in different social layers».

By opinion of RF Interiors minister counteracting extremism should become a civil position of the society. We will stiffly defend the issues related to unavoidability of punishment, he stated.
