Official reception on behalf of the Republic of Tatarstan for the FISU members took place in Shenzhen

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked FISU members for the credence granted to Russia and for naming Oleg Matytsin the First Vice-President of FISU.
Rustam Minnikhanov declared that on the official reception on behalf of the Republic of Tatarstan, as one of the Russian regions, for the FISU members, that took place in Shenzhen (China). The reception was held in the hall of the hotel Futian Shangri-La.
Let us recall that a regular FISU meeting took place on the 9th of August in Shenzhen, during which the President of the organization was reelected, Clod-Lui Galien from France became the new President. Oleg Matytsin, president of the Russian student sport union, became the First Deputy of the FISU President. Meanwhile, the current FISU President George Killian keeps his position till the end of the current Summer Games – 2011 in Shenzhen.
Greeting the guests, the Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov declared that student sport should develop further. He thanked everyone for another opportunity to meet before the Universiade 2013 in Kazan. “We are waiting for all of you in Kazan” – said Rustam Minnikhanov to the FISU members.
In his turn, George Killian expressed his sincere hope that a strong interest would be shown towards the coming summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. According to his words, the sport heritage, that would remain after the Universiade in the capital of Tatarstan, would help to strengthen the position of student sport.
There was a concert after that, where the best creative teams of Tatarstan and Russia took place.
On 13 April in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Maecenas and Benefactor Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: "Tatarstan has always been known for its generous and kind-hearted people who are ready to help the needy and support important social, cultural and educational projects. We all remember with gratitude the outstanding philanthropists – the Akchurin brothers, the Alafuzovs, and the Ushkovs, whose good deeds and generous donations contributed to the development of culture, education, and healthcare in our republic. The glorious traditions are continued by modern philanthropists and patrons of Tatarstan.
On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
