On August 28, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the video conference on readiness of the educational system for the beginning of the school year held by Dmitry Medvedev.

Dmitry Medvedev informed that 15,5 mln pupils will go to schools this year. There are 94,000 educational institutions in the country, 42,000 of them are schools. Seventy six new schools are planned to open by September 1. However, old schools need to be repaired, too. Medvedev noted that the condition of schools is a personal responsibility of the heads of the regions.

Dmitry Medvedev continued that 1,25 mln spaces had been provided at preschool institutions since 2013. The number of students entering colleges and technical schools will increase this year. “Regional programmes aimed at the development of secondary professional education should be supported in terms of the need for professional personnel. We should pay attention to higher education, of course,” Medvedev said.
