On October 19, Tatarstan Prime Minister Alexey Pesoshin took part in a video-conference held by Director of Federal National Guard Service and Commander-in-chief of the National Guard Viktor Zolotov on the security arrangement during the FIFA World Cup 2018.
Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich and Head of the Department of the Federal National Guard Service in Tatarstan Rustem Gumerov took part in the conference.
Opening the meeting, Zolotov noted that the largest number of host cities, including Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, and Saransk, are located in Volga Federal District. Four groups of armed forces of the Federal National Guard Troops Service will be created to provide security during the event, he said.
Zolotov continued that employees and military officers of the Federal National Guard Troops Service will ensure security during movement of fans around the country, at transport infrastructure facilities and in places of mass stay of citizens in the host cities of the championship.
He added that regulations concerning the circulation of weapons and ammunition will be tightened during holding the tournament. These processes will be under the daily control of territorial subdivisions issuing licenses and permissions.
Speaking at the meeting, Babich instructed executive authorities of the regions of the district to strengthen security measures.
The meeting discussed further working procedures of interdepartmental cooperation on providing security during the 2018 World Cup.
