Rustam Minnikhanov: small and medium-size businesses enjoy great opportunities in Kazan

Development of small and medium-size entrepreneurship is one of the most perspective areas of economic growth in Kazan. Such statement was made by the President of Tatasrtan Rustam Minnikhanov at a meeting with republican activists.
The gathering was held in KRK “Piramida” with participation of Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, chiefs of ministries and departments, enterprises, members of public organizations.
Addressing participants of the meeting Head of Republic highlighted achieved results in city development. Rustam Minnikhanov reminded the impetus was given by celebration of 1000-anniversary of Kazan and preparation for World summer Universiade 2013.
“Kazan has never received such funding as in the period of preparation for Universiade. As a result we have one of the best infrastructures in Russia. All objects are already functioning for our citizens”, Rustam Minnikhanov said.
The President asked residents to regard a kind of discomfort connected with construction and modernization of transport infrastructure with favour.
Head of Republic also reminded about other large programs being realized in Tatarstan. Thus, within four years 23,6 bln roubles have been spent for major repair of housing, he informed. By words of RT President this program let solving problems of many city dwellers.
Tatarstan leadership does not stop realization of housing programs. According to Rustam Minnikhanov a unique program of social mortgage is being implemented. By this program 10-11 thousand flats are built in Republic every year.
The program of modernization of medical institutions implies repair and equipping Regional clinical hospital and Children Regional clinical hospital with up-to-date equipment, new emergency hospital will be constructed in Kazan in the context of preparation for Universiade.
Due to realization of the program “Belekech” a lot of new kindergartens have been constructed in Kazan in 2011. The program on major repair of schools will be launched next year.
Rustam Minnikhanov admitted there are problems with roads and providing suburban villages with drinking water which are meant to be solved in the context of Republican programs.
RT President marked guarantee of social development in Tatarstan is efficient economy. He reminded about the set task regarding doubling of gross regional product by 2016. It can be realized by modernization of existing factories and construction of new ones throughout Republic. “Small and medium-size businesses enjoy great opportunities in Kazan”, Rustam Minnikhanov stated.
Tatarstan President answered the questions of the participants. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin reported on results of Kazan development and prospects.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
On 1 December Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in N.I. Lobachevsky Prize and Medal Award Ceremony held in Kazan Federal University and handed in the award to the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Researcher of the St. Petersburg Department of Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Ivanov who was awarded for the outstanding achievements in fundamental and applied mathematics.
