Rustam Minnikhanov: Cooperation with VTB facilitates Tatarstan to become one of the most powerful regions in the country

An Agreement on cooperation between Tatarstan Government and VTB group aimed at creating favorable conditions for development of mutually beneficial partnership was signed today in RT Cabinet.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held official meeting with President, Chairman of VTB Board Andrey Kostin.
“We are going to enter new level of cooperation. We see your bank is seriously developing. Today it is one of the leading banks in the country”, Rustam Minnikhanov said.
President of Republic told about projects being realized in Tatarstan and shared plans for the future.
“We count on development of small and medium-size business, intend to create new economic segment – IT-sector. We already have one technopark, the second is being constructed in Naberezhnye Chelny. There is an idea to create IT-megapolis. We are seriously cooperating with Rosnano, thus many projects will be connected with nanoindustry. I am sure your arrival and discussion of agreements will let Tatarstan become one of the most powerful regions in our country, and you will maintain and consolidate your positions as a leading banking structure”, the President said.
Andrey Kostin said VTB group has always faced understanding on the part of the region’s leadership without having any obstacles for business development. “We are working in 20 countries, and we have 85 % of income in Russia. In this respect Tatarstan is the example of stable economic development”, he stated.
The signed agreement stipulates possible participation of VTB bank in realization of investment and target regional programs, projects on supporting Tatarstan industrial complex, and measures aimed at implementation of modern banking technologies and formation of securities market of Republic.
Within the confines of reached agreements VTB and RT Government will cooperate in realization of priority projects in the sphere of housing and communal services, health care, fuel and energy facilities, infrastructure construction.
VTB group plans to participate in development of the system of crediting companies working on the territory of Tatarstan, including regional programs on supporting small and medium-size business, implement non-cash payment forms on salaries using banking cards.
According to Andrey Kostin areas of cooperation are already selected, but funding and concrete projects will be defined later.
On 13 April in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Maecenas and Benefactor Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: "Tatarstan has always been known for its generous and kind-hearted people who are ready to help the needy and support important social, cultural and educational projects. We all remember with gratitude the outstanding philanthropists – the Akchurin brothers, the Alafuzovs, and the Ushkovs, whose good deeds and generous donations contributed to the development of culture, education, and healthcare in our republic. The glorious traditions are continued by modern philanthropists and patrons of Tatarstan.
On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
