On February 16, Tatarstran Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a meeting of the local Council of Leninogorsk municipal region of the republic to sum up the results of social and economic development of the region in 2017 and set tasks for 2018.
Making a keynote report, Head of the region Ryagat Khusainov informed the meeting about the indicators of social and economic development the municipality reached in 2017 and outlined the tasks for the current year.
"The oil industry and the extraction of minerals play a leading role in the regional economy and remains the main sector for creating wealth, goods and money supply. The oil industry involves more than 15 per cent of the total employed population of the town. The index of industrial production made 96 per cent in 2017. Large and medium-sized industrial enterprises shipped goods of their own production, performed work and rendered services for the sum of 20 billion roubles. About 70 per cent of the shipped products was provided by the town-forming enterprises," the regional head said in particular.
Speaking at the meeting, Pesoshin stressed that Leninogorsk region is the cradle of the big Tatarstan oil and continues to be one of the main centres of oil production in the republic. He noted the significant role of the oil and gas industry in the economic and social development of the region in particular and the republic in general.
