Supervision board of SEZ “Alabuga” approves four new projects

Four new projects have been approved by members of Supervision board of Special economic zone “Alabuga” (the Republic of Tatarstan). The session of Supervision board was held by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.
The first project was presented by OOO “Armstrong Building Products” - a producer of ceiling plates. Armstrong World Industries was founded in 1860 in Pittsburg (USA). Its consolidated net sales made 2,9 bln US dollars in 2011. The company has been working in Russia since 1993.
After studying Russian regions, in February 2012 the company informed about their plans to invest 2,3 bln roubles in founding a plant at SEZ “Alabuga”. To the point, it is the first industrial investment project in Russia.
By the way, advantages of SEZ “Alabuga” are proximity of main product markets, ready-made infrastructure, and presence of highly skilled personnel. First output is meant to be produced in the first quarter of 2015. Annual production capacity is expected to make 22 mln m², construction to be started in 2013.
Commenting on the presentation made by OOO “Armstrong Building Products” officials Rustam Minnikhanov said that the project is in demand adding that the company’s output is already being used in Tatarstan upon construction of Universiade, health care, and education objects.
The second presented project was OOO “RMA Rus” - production of steel ball valves for oil and gas producing industry.
RMA Pipeline Equipment intends expanding the production in Russia on the territory of SEZ “Alabuga”. Funding will be provided at the company’s own expenses. Investment amount will make 1,7 bln roubles. Production is meant to be launched in August 2013.
The third project – OOO “EcoTechnologies-Alabuga” implies production of high-quality granulate by recycling of waste tyres. The project has obtained support of the Agency of strategic initiatives. 20 enterprises are now engaged in recycling of waste tyres in Russia. By the way, the plant founded at SEZ “Alabuga” will become most up-to-date.
The last project considered at the session of the Supervision board was OOO “East Bolt Elabuga” - production of bakery goods for fast food restaurants McDonalds. OOO “Heavy Logistics Elabuga” is a logistics partner of OOO “East Bolt Elabuga”. The project’s funding makes 215 mln roubles. Tatarstan - made products (flour, sugar, butter) are planned to be used in the context of the project.
Thus, due to realization of new four projects new kinds of food, automobile, chemical and construction industries will be produced at SEZ “Alabuga”.
On 13 April in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Maecenas and Benefactor Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: "Tatarstan has always been known for its generous and kind-hearted people who are ready to help the needy and support important social, cultural and educational projects. On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
