Restored complex of Stable yard opened in Sviyazhsk

Modern ethnographic complex has opened in island-town Sviyazhsk on the territory of the Stable yard. President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev and Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov took part in the opening ceremony of the restored architectural monument.
The Stable yard of the Virgin Dormition Monastery in Sviyazhsk was built in the latter half of the XVI century. First stone wall appeared here in XVIII century and gradually the whole Stable yard was rebuilt.
The Stable yard has been restored within the limits of a complex project “Tatarstan cultural heritage: ancient town of Bolgar and island-town Sviyazhsk” and is adapted for modern use as a tourist complex. OAO Tatspirtprom was the investor of restoration project.
The Stable yard is a tourist ethnographic complex which comprises a craft workshop, a restaurant and a guest house, a souvenir shop and a stable.
Before the opening ceremony Rustam Minnikhanov, Mintimer Shaimiev and Ildar Khalikov made excursion around the tourist complex.
Speaking to guests of the ceremony, President of Tatarstan noted that new restored objects regularly appear in Bolgar and Sviyazhsk. Rustam Minnikhanov believes that children should know history, culture and traditions of their land and all that is presented in the Stable yard.
President of Tatarstan and State Counselor handed letters of gratitude of the “Vozrozhdenie” fund to PM Ildar Khalikov, Director General of OAO Tatspirtprom Giorgy Kupriyanov and Chairman of the Board of ASG group Aleksey Semin who donated furniture from his antique collection.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.

On 24 April in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin held a joint meeting the Council for Enforcement of Legislation of Languages of Tatarstan and the organizational committee for celebrations of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay which summarized results of work of the regional law enforcement on official languages of the republic and considered progress of the implementation of the plan of main events for preparation and celebration of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay .
