Rustam Minnikhanov meets with President of Finland Sauli Niinisto

Finland’s Minister for European affairs and foreign trade Alexander Stubb will come to Tatarstan with a working visit. This has been discussed at a meeting of the Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with President of Finland Sauli Niinisto.

The meeting was held within the framework of St.Petersburg international economic forum which has opened at the exhibition center “Lenexpo” (St.Petersburg).

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that new leadership is now operating in Finland and it is important to evaluate prospects of relationships with Tatarstan as a Russian region. He introduced members of the Tatarstan delegation present at the meeting, i.e. Director General of JSC Tatneft Shafagat Takhautdinov, Minister of economy Midkhat Shagiakhmetov, and Director of the Department for external relations under the RT President – Aide to RT President Iskander Muflikhanov.

The parties discussed issues of further cooperation in various spheres. Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that the Tatarstan delegation has recently participated in III EU-Russia innovation forum (June 13, 2012) that was held in Lappeenranta city (Finland) on the basis of Lappeenranta university of technology (LUT). Tatarstan is interested in cooperation with Finland in the sphere of innovations, Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of RF to Finland and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Russia were present at the meeting.
