RT President: "Sabantui is one of the most favourite holidays in our country"

The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has attended Sabantui celebrations in Kazan. He visited the central maidan in Mirny settlement. Traditional festivities were held at 11 display sites stylized as village backyards that were organized by the Ministry of agriculture and foodstuff.

This year Buinsksky, Sabinsky, Arsky, Drozhzhanovsky, Rybno-Slobodsky, Kukmorsky, Laishevsky, and Vysokogorsky municipal regions presented their expositions.

In addition, institutions of additional education arranged children’s creative ground called “Magicians of sunshine city”, where performances of children’s folk teams, exhibition of children’s crafts, different contests and campaigns dated to Sabantui and forthcoming Universiade 2013 were held.

Among the distinguished guests of the holiday were State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev, first deputy RF Minister of defence Nikolai Makarov, RT Vice-premier – Minister of agriculture and foodstuff Marat Akhmetov, RT Vice-premier Asgat Safarov, Mayor of Kazan Islur Metshin and others.

The President congratulated everyone on the holiday saying that Sabantui is today celebrated in 54 Russian regions and 22 countries.

“This is one of the most favourite holidays of the Tatar people, but many other nations celebrate it. Display sites organized by our regions demonstrate unity and friendship of all nations living in our country and republic. We are so glad to welcome you here! I wish you happiness, health and let Sabantui always unite us!” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
