Rustam Minnikhanov and Mikhail Abyzov meet with Tatarstan youth

Minister of Russian Federation Mikhail Abyzov and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov have visited summer school of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration that is working in the Verkhny Uslon region (the Republic of Tatarstan).
The Tatarstan President and Minister responsible for activity of the “Open Government” met with students of the summer school and members of the Tatarstan youth organizations.
During the meeting Mikhail Abyzov told about work of the “Open Government” and listened to students’ suggestions.
The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov considers organization of such summer school to be a good idea. “By gathering so many young people from various places, you create environment for generation of new ideas. I suppose it is a good way of communication. This new environment enables making unusual decisions. We have to realize new plans with you. You can tell us about any ideas and we must listen to you attentively. Tatarstan is always open to such advanced young people,” the President said.
Rustam Minnikhanov and Mikhail Abyzov also met with members of youth organizations. Country’s leadership requires new forms of involving young people in state management, the minister said.
Attendees of the meeting asked several questions, in particular, about student labour teams and employment of students in general. Mikhail Abyzov said that Tatarstan demonstrates good example in terms of creating conditions for self-realization of young professionals and reminded about Nikolai Nikiforov, the youngest minister of the federal Government.
Members of youth organizations raised the problem of corruption at higher educational institutions. Mikhail Abyzov informed that a working group on developing anti-corruption measures in the sphere of education and medicine will start operating next week under the “Open Government”. The minister offered young people from Tatarstan to present their own solutions related to this problem.
The issue of possible permission to bear short-barrel weapon aroused wide discussion. Young people addressed Mikhail Abyzov with request to speak against this initiative. Rustam Minnikhanov also did not support it and called for extensive public discussion of the problem.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.
