31 July 2012, Tuesday
Tatarstan’s Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of agriculture and foodstuff Marat Akhmetov informed at a briefing at the RT Cabinet that it will be the busiest week in terms of grain and leguminous crops harvesting. Agrarians will be working at full capacity.
This year the harvesting area makes 1,6 mln hectares. By and large, according to preliminary data, 3,4 mln tons of crops are to be harvested.
Marat Akhmetov noted that this year due to dry weather 10 centners less grain will be harvested out of each hectare. However, grain balance in Tatarstan makes 600 thousand tons that will satisfy republican needs completely.
The harvest of winter crops will not be used as food grain, because of unfavourable weather conditions in winter period. Much hope is put on spring crops, especially after July rains.

On the Pre-Volga territory, where leading investors, “Ak Bars-holding” and “Krasny Vostok-agro” are operating, harvesting campaign is going at a rapid pace, since agro-industrial enterprises are provided with modern high-performance grain harvesters.
