Rustam Minnikhanov: “We are ready to support Luxembourg business in Tatarstan”

Tatarstan leadership is willing to support Luxembourg companies in opening and running their business in Tatarstan and hopes for developing cooperation with them, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov stated at a business lunch with members of the Luxembourg business delegation in Kazan.
Minister of economy and foreign trade Etienne Schneider, Tatarstan’s Vice-premier and Minister of informatization and communications Roman Shaikhutdinov, Aide to the Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov, Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov were present at the meeting.
Opening the meeting with businessmen, President of Tatarstan said that cooperation between republic and Luxembourg is very important, especially in the sphere of high technologies.
“We are interested in developing mutually beneficial cooperation with Luxembourg and are ready to support Luxembourg business in Tatarstan,” Rustam Minnikhanov said. He also drew attention of the businessmen to SEZ Alabuga saying that 31 residents with total investments of 3 bln dollars are registered on its territory.
Rustam Minnikhanov also informed that Luxembourg businessmen can also get acquainted with state-of-the-art IT projects.
He thanked Prime Minister of Luxembourg Jean-Claude Juncker, Minister of economy and foreign trade Etienne Schneider, Ambassador of Luxembourg to Russia Pierre Ferring for organisation of the visit to Kazan.
Minister of economy and foreign trade Etienne Schneider informed that Luxembourg is one of important economic partners of Russia. By the end of the first half of 2012, total amount of cumulative investments of Luxembourg and Russia made 1.5 trillion roubles.
“I am sure that Tatarstan is a very promising economic partner. We are glad to be here, learn more about the region and its economic opportunities,” Etienne Schneider said.
Vice-president of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Robert Donnewald introduced his colleagues, members of business delegation to Rustam Minnikhanov. Officials of 20 Luxembourg companies told about their opportunities and prospects of cooperation with Tatarstan.
One of the world’s largest satellite TV broadcasters, SES company expressed readiness to broadcast Tatarstan channels using their satellites. The Tatarstan President asked Minister of informatization and communications Roman Shaikhutdinov to discuss the proposal with the company management in details.
According to Rustam Minnikhanov, cooperation in the sphere of finances, consulting and audit services, and tourism can be interesting for Tatarstan.
On 5 May, speaking at a regular meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin informed that currently 63 school catering units are under repairs with the amount of work completed reaching 15 per cent.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
