Rustam Minnikhanov: “Cooperation with Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is very useful for Tatarstan”

At a meeting with Secretary General of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said: “The Republic of Tatarstan is intensively cooperating with a number of OIC branches and is willing to develop mutually beneficial relations.” The meeting took place in Jeddah during the visit of Tatarstan delegation to Saudi Arabia.
Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu welcomed Rustam Minnikhanov at OIC headquarters and thanked him for the visit. He told about forthcoming events to be held by the organisation that may be interesting for republic. In particular, OIC Secretary General invited Rustam Minnikhanov to agro-industrial forum where Tatarstan could present investment opportunities of agricultural sector. Besides, OIC is ready to render support in promoting Bolgar and Sviyazhsk for inclusion in UNESCO world heritage list. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu offered Rustam Minnikhanov to establish cooperation in scientific and educational spheres.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu for holding events under the auspices of OIC in Tatarstan.
Speaking about prospects of cooperation between Tatarstan and Islamic countries in agricultural industry, Rustam Minnikhanov confirmed intentions of republican leadership to participate in different agricultural exhibitions and forums.
According to Rustam Minnikhanov, organisation of hadj and manufacturing of halal production are important but not developed spheres in Russia. He hopes for OIC assistance in settling these issues.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
