9 May 2013, Thursday

Dear Tatarstaners! Dear veterans and homefront workers! On behalf of Tatarstan State Council, Government and personally let me congratulate you on 68th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War!

The 9th of May, 1945 is the most important event in heroic biography of our country, every family and our multinational people. This day Soviet soldiers finished cruel and destructive war in defeated Reichstag. This is a timeless holiday, the symbol of courage, heroism and selfless love to Motherland.

Due to spiritual firmness of our people the world was saved from Nazi slavery. We achieved the Victory at the expense of big losses. We will always remember those fallen on battle fields.  With deep respect and gratitude we will remember those who produced weapon at factories and plants, who worked hard at fields, in hospitals, scientific, educational and cultural institutions.

Tatarstan made a considerable contribution to common victory and restoration of national economy.

We express gratitude to representatives of the generation of winners for their heroic deed. We try to do our best to improve living conditions of our veterans.

Today many veterans actively participate in patriotic education of the youth, which embodies real connection between generations. It seems to be more important on the threshold of 70th anniversary of Great Victory. Dear veterans, let your life be as long as possible!

Dear Tatarstaners! I wish you strong health, happiness, peace and wellbeing! I congratulate you on Victory Day!

President of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.
