On June 29 Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Russian Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko, FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, and President of Russian Sport Student Union Oleg Matytsin took part in the official opening ceremony of Universiade Village in Kazan.
Before the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov had visited Universiade museum at the International Information Centre.
Russian Minister of Sport Vitaly Mutko welcomed guests on behalf of the Russian Government and Universiade Organising Committee. “Tatarstan leadership has done great work so that all Universiade guests feel themselves comfortable and homey,” he said.
FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien thanked Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin for enormous preparatory arrangements they had made.
Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that it was not easy to win the right for hosting the Games. He thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin, Universiade Organising Committee headed by Igor Shuvalov, and all republican and federal structures for support.
Rustam Minnikhanov also expressed his gratitude to members of FISU Executive Committee for vested confidence and promised to hold the Games on the highest level.
Finally, Vitaly Mutko, Claude-Louis Gallien and Rustam Minnikhanov announced that Universiade Village was officially opened.
On March 10, the third meeting of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the 20th anniversary Russian Venture Forum 2026 to be held in Kazan from April 8 to 10, chaired by Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov and with participation of Tatarstan Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and co-chair of the forum’s organizing committee Aleksey Pesoshin, President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov, Director of the Investment and Venture Fund of Tatarstan Damir Galiev as well as representatives of federal and regional authorities, development institutions and partner organizations via videoconference, took place.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
