Rustam Minnikhanov: “We have to ensure people’s safety and protect their legal interests”

On January 20 at a summary session of the Ministry of the Interior, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the power of the interior agencies consist in ability to work as a close-knit team in cooperation with law enforcement bodies and authorities.
The Minister of the Interior Artem Khokhorin made a report on the ministry’s work in 2013. He informed that employees of the ministry managed to keep reducing the number of crimes. 928 crimes were detected last year. 400 members of organized criminal groups were brought to trial.
Employees of Tatarstan Ministry of the Interior withdrew 200 items of fire arms, revealed 3137 economic crimes. 4851 drug-related crimes were revealed by law enforcement bodies.
Artem Khokhorin thanked Tatarstan leadership and personally Rustam Minnikhanov for providing proper working conditions for employees of law enforcement bodies.
It was noted that road safety is still an urgent problem in the republic.
Deputy Minister of the Interior, Head of Investigation Department Yury Alekseev said that counteracting extremism is one of priority tasks to be fulfilled by Russian law enforcement bodies. He also noted high level of organisation and well-coordinated work during summer Universiade in Kazan.
Yury Alekseev continued that Tatarstan Ministry of the Interior has to work harder on counteracting organized, economic, extremist crimes, and focus on crimes committed by employees of law enforcement bodies.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Russian Ministry of the Interior for support rendered during Universiade. He also told about social and economic development of the republic.
According to Rustam Minnikhanov, employees of the Ministry of the Interior would have to continue ensuring citizens’ safety, put much emphasis on illegal migration, anti-corruption measures, and economic crimes in 2014.
Among urgent problems the President pointed out illegal gambling business and turnover of alcoholic products.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
