On April 15 during his visit to China, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with activists of Tatar diaspora in Urumqi. They thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for visiting China and meeting with them, noting that representatives of Tatar youth living in China will continue studying at Kazan higher educational institutions.
Chinese Tatars addressed Tatarstan President with request to help with receiving residence permits in Russia so that they can stay in the country and establish business contacts.
Urumqi Tatars also said they feel lack of communication with native culture and asked Rustam Minnikhanov to consider an opportunity of organizing tours of Tatar creative teams, especially dancing groups, in China. Activists of Tatar diaspora, in their turn, are willing to send local artists to Tatarstan.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked activists of Tatar diaspora for active work on preservation of culture and traditions. He promised to consider proposals made at the meeting with the help of regional ministries and agencies.
After the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a solemn dinner with activists of Tatar diaspora.
On 2 March in her address on the occasion of the Mentor’s Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: “Since 2025 this holiday established by Russian President Vladimir Putin has occupied a worthy place in the calendar of significant dates of our country, emphasizing the high status and significance of the mentoring mission.

On 28 February, speaking at a meeting held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference , the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin informed that 170 educational facilities will have capital overhaul by federal and regional programmes, having added that the bulk of the projects are planned to begin at the start of the summer holidays.
