On November 5, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov addressed Tatarstan citizens on the occasion of Constitution Day of the Republic:
“Dear citizens of the Republic of Tatarstan! On behalf of Tatarstan State Council and Government I congratulate you on one of the most important holidays for our republic – Constitution Day! For 22 years the Constitution of the Republic of Tatarstan has protected citizens’ rights, has been the strong foundation of our economic system and ensured well-coordinated work of government authorities and local self-government.
The relations with the federal center and legal confirmation of the status of our republic within multi-ethnic Russian state are very important for the republic. Confirmation of the historical role of the Agreement on delimitation of matters of authorities between state authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan and Russian Federation played an important role in it. We are grateful to Russian leadership for continuous support of social and economic development of the republic. I am sure that the contribution of Tatarstan to consolidation of statehood and unity of Russian people will be increasing.
The positive role of the Constitution of the Republic of Tatarstan in development of the system of social relations is obvious under current conditions. Democratic principles of equity of all nationalities and social groups prescribed by the main law of the republic have become the basis of social and political stability. Peace and consent are of great value for us. We see that there are risks of instability and civil conflicts in modern society, and thousands of innocent people become victims. Therefore, maintenance of conditions for peaceful life and successful development are indisputable duties of all authorities, instituted of civil society, and all people of good will.
Dear citizens of the Republic of Tatarstan!
The main law of the Republic of Tatarstan as well as any other legal documents was developed and passed in the interests of our citizens. The Constitution teaches us to be real patriots of our republic.
The broadest rights and freedoms require high legal culture, awareness of responsibility for future of our society. We should know and respect laws. In this case the Constitution will be effective and important document. I wish you, dear friends, wellbeing and success in work, participation in social life, and conscious civic position.
Congratulations on Constitution Day of the Republic of Tatarstan!
