President of International federation of hockey Leonardo Negre: Tatarstan model of work in developing field hockey has no analogues in Russia

In opinion of President of the International federation of hockey Leonardo Negre, Tatarstan model of work in developing field hockey has no analogues in Russia. He stated this at a meeting with the First Deputy Prime minister of Republic Tatarstan Boris Pavlov within the limits of the All-Russia international sports forum «Russia - sports power».

We remind, the forum took place on October 22-24 in Kazan.

Boris Pavlov and President of the International federation of hockey Leonardo Negre (Spain) visited the Center of field hockey of Republic Tatarstan. The president of the International federation of hockey highly appreciated the prospects of developing this Olympic kind of sports in Tatarstan.

«Tatarstan model of work in developing field hockey has no analogues in Russia: perfectly equipped Center of field hockey offers exclusive conditions for trainings not only to eminent sports clubs, but also children-youth schools - and this is a main condition for developing any sports because it helps to prepare own sports staff».

According to Leonardo Negre, it is important, that Tatarstan goes in step with world sports community, tracing novelties in the field of high technologies. A vivid example - the Center of the sports medicine, presented to Mr Negre.

Besides, on example of successes of men's club "Dynamo-Kazan" - the sixfold champion of Russia in field hockey - Leonardo Negre noted a general rise of level of the Russian field hockey: « Now, we can observe a rebirth of this kind of sports in Russia, and new capital of field hockey today, certainly, is Kazan».

First Deputy RT Prime Minister - president of RT Federation of field hockey Boris Pavlov shared the opinion of Mr Negro and noted, « what has been done till now - only insignificant part of plans, which the Government of Tatarstan intends for the near future on developing this Olympic kind of sports - field hockey. Especially it is important in a view of a victory of Kazan over struggle for carrying out Universiade -2013 and inclusion of field hockey in the program».

Solving the tasks in view should be promoted by the new concept of development of field hockey in Republic Tatarstan for the period 2009-2013. Today, 1200 people (or 0,2 % of general number going in for sports) are engaged in this kind of sports in the republic. According to the concept, in 5 years, number of the engaged should grow not less than 5000 people, Boris Pavlov noted.

In Boris Pavlov's opinion to achieve the tasks in view is planned by introduction of field hockey and its versions (indoor hockey) in educational programs of general educational establishments. To settle this, in Boris Pavlov's opinion, the RT Ministry education and sciences should help.

Besides, during a meeting with Boris Pavlov the president of the International federation of hockey Leonardo Negre suggested to stage a congress on field hockey in 2012 in Kazan and to date it for holding the international tournament. Boris Pavlov thanked Mr Negre for the offer and noted, that in the near future the RT Federation of field hockey in coordination with leadership of the republic would prepare the application for holding this action in Kazan.

Mr Negre offered his assistance in strengthening trainer's structure of teams on field hockey of Republic Tatarstan and promised to return to capital of Tatarstan on November, 4th – for a game of League of Champions of UEFA " Rubin " - "Barcelona".
