On October 8, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Turkish Minister of economy Nihat Zeybekci took part in the opening of two new plants of Şişecam company, - “Trakya Glass Rus” (production of construction glass), and “Automotive Glass Alliance Rus” (production of automotive glass) in Alabuga Special Economic Zone (Yelabuga, Tatarstan).
“Trakya Glass Rus” is a joint project of the Turkish company Şişecam and French company Saint-Gobain. The total amount of investments made 7 bln roubles, and 250 jobs were created. It is planned to manufacture 250 thousand tons of glass per year.
The annual output of “Automotive Glass Alliance Rus” plant is expected to make 6,4 mln items of automotive glass per year. 3,9 mln roubles of investments were spent for the project implementation.
Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated Şişecam leadership on the opening of new plants and noted that Tatarstan is actively cooperating with Turkish companies.
Rustam Minnikhanov added that in spite of misunderstanding between Russia and Turkey, leaders of the countries managed to overcome disagreements. “We have all opportunities for further fruitful cooperation with Turkish companies,” he said.
Nihat Zeybekci said that the current event like no other facilitated strengthening of Russia-Turkey relations and that after tragic events of November 2015 Rustam Minnikhanov worked hard to restore cooperation between the countries.
Nihat Zeybekci informed as well that Ankara still supports the construction of gas pipeline “Turkish Stream” and first Turkish power station Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.
After the solemn opening ceremony Rustam Minnikhanov and Nihat Zeybekci inspected the production lines of new plants and samples of final products.
