On October 21, speaking at a regional meeting chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at Tatarstan Government House, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Foodstuff of the republic Nikolay Titov reported on the latest news from the fields and preparation of agricultural equipment for winter.
Titov reported that last week Tatarstan farmers harvested more than 8,000 hectares of sugar beet. With a yield of 361 centner per hectare, a total of 2.1 mln tonnes of sugar have been produced. At the moment, the farmers need to harvest about 5,000 hectares.
Titov went on to report that when field works are finished all the equipment should be prepared for winter storage.
The speaker continued that in accordance with Tatarstan President's errand, this week 18 milk-traders of the republic and heads of regional farms held a meeting to discuss issues of milk cost formation.
In his turn Minnikhanov asked Ministry of Agriculture and Foodstuff of the republic to set best purchase prices for milk twice a month.
"Milk-traders are entrepreneurs and we should not restrict them, otherwise they will not buy milk. With our strict actions we can break our procurement system, we have been forming for years, at all. If traders observe regulations, there is no need to interfere with their work,” Minnikhanov concluded.
